WHAT WE DO
The Race Day Films company name is quickly becoming synonymous with our race preparation video series, but Race Day Films offers a full compliment of pre-production, production, and post-production athletic video services. More specifically, we specialize in video services for human-powered races like marathons, triathlons, running, bicycling, and swimming. Race Day Films personnel and technology are adaptable to a wide variety of projects. Our technology includes modern high-definition (HD) equipment, high sample rate equipment for slow motion work, and lower resolution equipment for non-HD projects. Our creative team can plan and film concepts spanning live sports coverage through and including athletic documentaries. Finally, our delivery team can consult on a wide variety of topics including logistics, legal, sponsorship, distribution, and placement.
Often understated, comprehensive planning of your production is critical to a successful outcome. Race Day Films has experience planning live or pre-recorded athletic events. Typical services include, concept formulation and refinement, script review and authoring, logistics planning, distribution and placement planning, legal planning, and sponsorship consultation.
Whether 30 second commercials or feature-length movies, our team has extensive experience, including both pre-recorded and live formats. We are also experienced coordinating and planning our productions with network television and cable companies.
The Internet is quickly becoming a multi-media environment. Many of our clients want to enhance their Web sites with video. The Race Day Films production team will apply our knowledge of video technologies to ensure interoperability and quality for your Web visitors. We also have experience providing live productions on the Web via streaming video.
We have extensive experience planning, filming, editing, and packaging video products for home distribution. We subcontract our duplication to provide an end-to-end service, from concept refinement to shrink-wrapped DVDs!
Pre-recorded “PodCasts” have gained great popularity with the prevalence of portable video and audio players. Race Day Films can edit and deliver productions in this specialized format. Our team understands the right balance of portability and quality to ensure your PodCast is well received.
While we normally ensure a quality product by being involved in the filming process, Race Day Films can deliver polished productions based on film captured by another organization. Our post-production services include, but are not limited to video editing, graphic and animated graphic overlays, original music scoring and soundscaping, DVD menu design, DVD chapter composition, cover art design, and duplication.
Through multi-decade backgrounds of athletic experience, Race Day Films is able to consult on your video project. We specialize in human-powered races like marathon, triathlon, running, biking, and swimming.
The variety and application of graphical topography, mapping, and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technologies is dizzying. Let Race Day Films help you understand and apply these technologies. Whether mapping technologies like GoogleEarth and TopoFusion, GPS encoded video, or emerging mapping services like MotionBased and One Million Revolutions, Race Day Films understands the technology.
As you might imagine, our human-powered race specialty has allowed us to collect a large volume of corresponding stock footage. Give us a call or send us an e-mail describing the footage you seek. We will then confirm we have applicable stock footage, make that footage available for your preview, and package that footage in a format of your specification.
Our flagship service, the Race Day Films Series is presently distributed via DVD as a race preparation tool. Every Race Day Films DVD has a race documentary, which describes the event, as defined by the course, history, participants, event staff, fans, volunteers, and more. Race Day Films Series videos also provide a full-length course preview that you train with at home. This part of the video helps viewers experience the course and receive tips and tricks to complete the course in a fun, safe, and fast way.

ADVERTISING THROUGH ATHLETIC VIDEO
Race Day Films offers advertisers lots of options in distribution and methods of advertising.
Race Day Films DVDs have sold across the entire United States, and even some overseas. Home distribution via DVD is a persistent form of advertising. In other words, consumers don’t throw their DVDs away, and in the instance of a DVD that has on-going utility, like a race preparation DVD, consumers watch those DVDs repeatedly. Advertising through a Race Day Films DVD is a great way to ensure your advertising campaign is seen over and over again.
Depending on the video project, Race Day Films Internet distribution can be very focused or very broad. Targeted distribution varies based on sport. While our broad Internet distribution includes some of the busiest Web sites in the World, with cumulative daily Web hits over 350 Million!! Advertising through Race Day Films Web video is a great way to reach the un-tapped Internet audience.
Advertising methods include commercials, infomercials, product and service placement, couponing, and co-packaging. We are open to your additional suggestions as well. Please contact us to start a discussion about advertising your products or services through an upcoming Race Day Films video project.
PROMOTIONAL VALUE OF ATHLETIC VIDEO
Unlike typical race sponsorship, Race Day Films offers the unique opportunity to directly sponsor video, the most compelling and effective promotional medium associated with athletic events. If your sponsorship objective is to maximize promotional value for your Dollars, sponsorship of athletic video projects is for you.
Sponsoring a Race Day Films video project allows you incredible branding flexibility. This is accomplished using a combination of event types, distribution channels, and promotion methods. Event types are as varied as endurance and adventure events – swimming, running, biking, triathlon, duathlon, mountain biking, adventure racing – we film it all. Distribution options include cable, DVD, and Internet, while promotional methods include product and service placement, infomercials, and commercials. How does all of this translate to branding flexibility? Here’s an example…
Let’s say your company provides a Web-based service for athletes and you want to access the tech-savvy, $148K median house hold income market that is triathletes in the United States. Race Day Films would describe our current opportunities or specifically seek-out a triathlon video project that is well-matched to Internet distribution. Depending on the video project, we might recommend a combination of service placement and infomercial to help viewers better understand your service.
To understand current video project opportunities, share information on your branding strategy, and collaborate on the optimal video project to support your promotional efforts, please contact us to start a dialog.

The great maps featured in The Annapolis Triathlon were assembled using a great piece of mapping and GPS software called TopoFusion. While some folks may know TruFlight as an extremely configurable flight simulator, their software is also stellar at race course fly-throughs. Their merger of graphics and maps using our GPS data (GPS technology courtesy of Garmin, above) is perfect for our films.
